Sankeertan by Samarchana School of Dance Amidst social division, saints from the 13th to the 17th centuries preached social change and equality, bringing prayer and spirituality to the common man. The 800-year-old Warkari tradition is dedicated to the praise of Lord Vitthal, a form of Lord Krishna. Every year, Warkaris undertake a sacred 250 km pilgrimage to Pandharpur to worship the Lord at the holy shrine. Along the way, they chant the Lord’s name, sing Abhangs, and listen to Keertans—a unique blend of narration, song, and dance.
