Why is Janeu (Yagnopavit) Worn? Mantra: Om Yagnopavitam Paramam Pavitram, Prajapateryat Sahajam Purastat | Ayushyamagryam Pratimuncha Shubhram, Yagnopavitam Balamastu Tejah || The Janeu is also known as Upavit, Yagnasutra, Vratabandha, Balabandha, Monibandha, and Brahmasutra.
